Conventional medicine focuses on the use of physical scientific intervention in order to treat illness. On the other hand, spiritual methods can also be used to treat disease. Such is the goal and approach of Reiki Healing.
Reiki is a Japanese approach to induce relaxation and reduce stress, which are factors that aid healing. Reiki is based on the notion that an invisible “life force” flows through every one of us and it is what keeps us alive. If one’s “life force” is relatively low, it is likely that he would feel more strained and more susceptible to stress, and eventually, he will get sick.
The word Reiki come from two Japanese words – Rei, meaning “The Higher Power or God’s Wisdom” and Ki, meaning “life force energy”. Thus, Reiki actually means “spiritually guided life force energy” or life force energy coming from God or a Higher Source. Reiki healing is administered by the “laying on hands” technique to increase or revitalize the patient’s life force energy. Being able to sustain one’s life force energy enables us to be more happy and healthy.
Reiki is a safe, natural, and simple method of spiritual healing that anyone can use. It may even be used for self-treatment or self-improvement. This method has effectively helped virtually all known maladies and illnesses and always creates a beneficial spiritual effect. It can also be used in conjunction with other medical/ therapeutic approaches to promote healing and recovery, as well as relieve symptoms of illness or side effects.
In a usual Reiki treatment session, the Reiki Master relaxes, prays, and then proceeds in the laying of hands on the patient’s affected areas. It feels like a warm glowing radiance of life force that flows through you and around your body.
For the healing to take effect, the ideal is to help the patient realize that healing his or her spirit and body can occur as he/she consciously decides to improve oneself. And in order for the healing to have lasting effects, the patient must accept responsibility for his or her continual healing by actively taking part in improving or maintaining his or her life force energies.
Thus, Reiki healing is an active commitment to improve and constantly heal oneself. It is a guideline for spiritually living a gracious, happy, and healthy life.
Reiki is not a religion; rather, it is a beneficial approach to living and acting in a way that promotes one’s overall spiritual harmony with others. The founding father of the Reiki system of natural healing, Mikao Usui, recommended practicing simple ethical ideals to promote harmony and peace within oneself and others – this is a universal value across all cultures regardless of race or religion.
